Furthermore, stories bridge to printable crafts you make with your hands — coloring sheets, paper puppets, story cards and cut-and-fold paper toys — encouraging children to naturally turn off the screen and build something at the kitchen table!

The sweet spot is ages 3 to 8. Younger children (ages 3 to 5) enjoy audio read-alouds, ambient sleep sounds, and simple coloring sheets with a grown-up; older children (ages 6 to 8) read independently, solve mystery games, cut and fold paper crafts, and customize avatars.

Yes! Every character (Lumi, Finn, Bruno, Olive, Toby, Pip, Hazel, Momo, Willow and Rusty), illustration, and storyline is 100% original to Wimlets. We do not license commercial TV franchises or retell generic fairy tales.

Wimlets is built by an independent, small team, not a licensed franchise or a media conglomerate. Every character, story, and craft is designed in-house, and every message sent through our contact page is read and answered personally.

Yes, in the sense of building habits and skills rather than testing recall. Each story carries a gentle social-emotional lesson (kindness, patience, courage, teamwork), and the games reinforce reading comprehension, sequencing, and pattern recognition. Wimlets is designed to support early literacy and calm-screen habits alongside school, not replace a formal curriculum.

Core Wimlets is free forever for all families: most stories, all the ambient sleep sounds, most games and most printables, with no account needed to read or play. Explorer Club ($4.99/mo) adds a members-only set of stories, coloring pages and games, including the Style Studio dress-up game. The membership page shows exactly how many of each are in the Club today, counted from the live library rather than written down here.

It depends which plan you choose. Explorer Club ($4.99/mo) covers one child explorer profile. Family Forest Pass ($7.99/mo) covers up to 4, and each child gets their own isolated Golden Acorns satchel, bookmarks and badge wall — there are no per-child fees on top. Both plans unlock exactly the same stories, crafts and games; the difference is how many separate profiles you can create. If you already have Explorer Club and a second child comes along, you can switch plans without losing anything.

Yes. Open your account page and use Manage Subscription, which opens the secure billing portal run by Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider. There are no contracts and no cancellation fees. Cancelling stops the next payment — it does not cut your access short: you keep full member access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Your child keeps every earned badge, acorn and saved avatar permanently, whether you come back or not.

Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy, our Merchant of Record — they are the seller of record for your membership and they handle billing, receipts and tax on our behalf. That means the charge on your bank or card statement will show as LEMONSQUEEZY or Lemon Squeezy rather than Wimlets. It is the same payment; please do not report it as fraud. Your receipt email comes from Lemon Squeezy too, and it contains the link to manage or cancel your membership.

No. Card details are entered on Lemon Squeezy's secure checkout and never reach Wimlets servers — we never see or store your card number. What we keep is the minimum needed to know your membership is active: which plan you are on, whether it is currently active, and when the period ends.

All prices are in US dollars. Because Lemon Squeezy is the Merchant of Record, any VAT, GST or sales tax your country requires is calculated and handled at checkout, so the amount shown before you pay is the amount you pay. Your bank may apply its own currency conversion if your card is not in USD.

Nothing is locked immediately. If a renewal payment fails — most often an expired or replaced card — your membership keeps working for a grace period of 14 days while the payment is retried, and you will see a notice on your account page with a link to update your details. Your child is not interrupted mid-story because a card expired. If the payment still cannot be taken by the end of that window, the membership ends and everything free stays free.

No. Cancelling stops the next payment; it does not end the period you have already paid for. You keep full member access until the date shown on your account page, and only then does the membership return to the free tier. Everything your child earned — badges, Golden Acorns, saved avatars, favourites and profiles — stays exactly where it is, and it is all still there if you rejoin later.

Refunds are handled by Lemon Squeezy under their policy as our Merchant of Record — the fastest route is the support link in your receipt email, or contact us and we will help. Nothing in our refund policy limits any statutory cancellation or withdrawal rights you have under your local law. If you subscribed by mistake or a child made the purchase, tell us; we would rather sort it out than keep money from a family that did not mean to spend it.

Yes. Use Manage Subscription on your account page to switch — for example from Explorer Club to Family Forest Pass when a second child joins in, or from monthly to annual. Changing plans there keeps your one membership and works out the difference in price for you. Please do not buy a second membership to upgrade: that would create two subscriptions and charge you twice for the same thing.

Annual works out at $3.83/month for Explorer Club ($45.99 a year, saving 23%) and $5.92/month for Family Forest Pass ($71 a year, saving 26%). Like the monthly plans it renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel any time — you keep access until the end of the year you have paid for.

Every story includes synchronized word-by-word highlighting where text glows softly as the narration speaks. Children can also tap any word to hear it pronounced gently in a character's audio tone, helping build phonetic confidence and supporting early readers and children with dyslexia.

Our sleep hub at /audio features real-time procedural sound generators (Forest Rain, Cozy Campfire, Night Breeze, Meadow Crickets) with an auto-fade sleep timer (15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes). The sound gently softens as your child drifts into sleep.

We do use analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Ahrefs) to see what needs fixing; they load only if you accept cookies, and run with Google's ad features and cross-site tracking turned off. Children can enjoy stories, games and crafts without creating an account, and child profiles only store an avatar and nickname.

The Adult Gate is a built-in parental speed bump (such as a multiplication challenge) that protects sensitive grown-up areas including billing, account settings, newsletter signups, and external support links.
